During a meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, President Trump showcased a video claiming it depicted burial sites of white farmers, asserting they are targeted and killed. Reporter Yamiche Alcindor challenged the credibility of this video, citing reports that the crosses actually marked a memorial for a murdered couple, not burial sites. Despite this, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt defended the video's integrity and claimed it illustrated the reality of racial persecution against white farmers, linking it to coverage from the Associated Press.
The video shows crosses that represent the dead bodies of people who were racially persecuted by their government. In fact, the Associated Press, of all places, has a picture of that very monument in the caption from the Associated Press is 'Each cross marks a white farmer who has been killed in a farm murder.'
We know that that was not true and that the video wasn't true. What protocols are in place when there's unsubstantiated information being put out for the world and world leaders?
