"Chairman of the Fed, I'd put in the absolutely, positively no chance, no way, no how, for any reason,"
"I would so much more prefer this job than that job. That's a hard job, but I don't want to do that job,"
"I would take the call, consider it, and think about why and what they want. But what they want and how they want to operate would be important to me,"
"But I've been my own boss for pretty much 25 years, and I like it that way."
Jamie Dimon declined consideration for Federal Reserve Chair, describing the role as absolutely off the table and saying he prefers his CEO position. The Fed faces heightened pressures, including a Justice Department criminal probe into the central bank and Powell's testimony about office renovations, White House demands to lower interest rates, and an unprecedented attempt to remove governor Lisa Cook that is now subject to legal challenge. The central bank must balance supporting the labor market by lowering rates without reigniting inflation. Dimon said he would consider a call about becoming Treasury secretary but values being his own boss.
