Florida plans to end all state vaccine mandates, including requirements for students to attend school, announced by Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo. State leaders frame vaccination as a matter of personal choice and invoke "medical freedom." Ladapo said his agency will roll back mandates for roughly half a dozen vaccines under its authority but will need the Republican-controlled legislature for broader changes and did not specify which mandates would be removed. Public health experts warn that removing mandates could trigger severe outbreaks among children, tourists, and immunocompromised people amid falling kindergarten vaccination rates and a growing measles resurgence.
