LaMar Cook, 45, a former deputy director in Governor Maura Healey's Western Massachusetts office, faces cocaine trafficking, illegal firearm and ammunition possession, and driving without a license charges. A judge granted bail at $85,000 after previously ordering him held without bail following a dangerousness hearing. Conditions for release include posting bail and surrendering his passport. Investigators seized multiple parcels totaling about 21 kilograms of suspected cocaine, including eight intercepted during a controlled delivery at the Springfield State Office Building. Cook was fired effective immediately after his arrest and remains in custody while pleading not guilty. His family and lawyer are working to raise bail funds.
