"OAKLAND A one-time spokeswoman for former District Attorney Pamela Price says county leaders are playing games and should be fined for withholding key text messages in her racial discrimination and wrongful termination lawsuit, court filings show. Another person fired by Price claims the county's attorneys are making a mockery of the judicial system for its rampant stonewalling in a different lawsuit, according to another filing in late November."
"The delays are so egregious that some of their attorneys want a judge to impose sanctions in Lee's case, about $11,000 on the county for all the extra time they've spent trying to wrangle the material, the filings said. The county's attorneys are playing games and delaying the production of the information from the cell phone each time making up a new excuse, Lee's attorneys wrote in the Nov. 25 filing."
"Chew's attorneys went further, claiming the county has engaged in a systematic, ongoing, fundamental affront to the judicial system. In a lawsuit filed in October 2024, Chew accused Price of harboring anti-Asian American views and firing him as a result. Alameda's conduct, through counsel, is indefensible, the attorney, Jon King, said in his filing. It has made a mockery of this litigation and the judicial process."
Patti Lee and former Chief of Inspectors Craig Chew allege Alameda County's legal team dodged document demands for nearly a year in their lawsuits against former District Attorney Pamela Price. Lee's attorneys say repeated excuses delayed production of cell phone information and seek about $11,000 in sanctions for extra time spent obtaining materials. Chew's attorneys contend the county's conduct is a systematic affront to the judicial system and say Price fired Chew over alleged anti-Asian American views. County Counsel Donna Ziegler and Price did not immediately return requests for comment, according to the filing notes.
