He wrote that he would go to Republican lawmakers' funerals to "piss on their graves" and listed "Gilbert, hitler, and pol pot," saying Gilbert "gets two bullets to the head." Coyner urged him to stop and said such talk of hurting people and wishing death is not okay. Jones later reportedly doubled down in a phone call, arguing policymakers must feel pain to change policy and suggesting Gilbert's wife witness a child's death. Jones acknowledged the texts and blamed his opponent for their publication, adding that violent rhetoric has no place in politics.
