Federal authorities will target visa fraud in Minnesota, which has a sizable Somali population. Governor Kristi Noem accused Minnesota leadership of enabling massive visa fraud and claimed half of program participants were fraudulent. Operation Twin Shield, led by USCIS, ICE and the FBI, reviewed 1,000 cases and identified suspected fraud in 275, though it did not report arrests. ICE is expected to surge operations in Minneapolis. Former President Trump called for ending temporary protected status for Somalis and for removals. Governor Tim Walz said he welcomed investigative support but condemned indiscriminate targeting of immigrants as a PR stunt.
