President Donald Trump blasted Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, calling him either incompetent or crooked because the multi-year Fed building renovation is billions of dollars over budget. The Justice Department reportedly served grand jury subpoenas to the Federal Reserve regarding Powell's testimony to the Senate Banking Committee about the renovation. Powell said he believed the investigation was not about the renovation and said he was being targeted for disagreeing with the president on interest rates. Trump appointed Powell, but their relationship has soured, and Trump has publicly criticized Powell for not cutting rates quickly enough.
