Iran Officials Privately Downplayed US Attack: Report
Briefly

A report from the Washington Post suggests that Iranian officials believed the damage from the recent U.S. military strike was not as significant as expected. This claim arises from intercepted communications marking a skepticism in Iran over the effectiveness of the attacks on its nuclear facilities. While the Trump administration did not contest the report itself, it argued against the Iranian officials' interpretations of the strike's impact, insisting that Iran's nuclear ambitions have been effectively halted and expressing skepticism about Iran's assessment of the damage.
The communication, intended to be private, included Iranian government officials speculating as to why the strikes directed by President Donald Trump were not as destructive and extensive as they anticipated.
It's shameful that the Washington Post is helping people commit felonies by publishing out of context leaks, Leavitt said, reiterating that Iran's nuclear program was obliterated as a result of the attack.
A senior U.S. intelligence official also told the Post: A single phone call between unnamed Iranians is not the same as an intelligence assessment, which takes into account a body of evidence.
The Trump administration did not dispute the Post's reporting but cast doubt on the Iranians' ability to assess damage at the three nuclear facilities targeted.
