US President Donald Trump is becoming increasingly doubtful about the prospects of reaching a nuclear deal with Iran, stating that his confidence has diminished. Concurrently, Iran's Defence Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh warned of targeting US military bases if conflict ensues. The tension comes as six rounds of talks have taken place since April, aiming at curbing Iran's uranium enrichment. Trump emphasized the goal is to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, ideally without resorting to warfare, though he noted a decline in Iran's willingness to agree.
"If a conflict is imposed on us all US bases are within our reach and we will boldly target them in host countries," Nasirzadeh told reporters.
"I'm less confident now than I would have been a couple of months ago. Something happened to them, but I am much less confident of a deal being made," said Trump.
