Tyler Robinson was charged with aggravated murder in the fatal shooting of conservative activist and broadcaster Charlie Kirk. Robinson sent texts to his roommate, described in filings as a biological male involved in a romantic relationship with Robinson, that included a confession and instructions to look under his keyboard. The roommate was noted to be in the process of transitioning from male to female. Robinson has not confessed directly to law enforcement. He wrote that he planned the attack for a little over a week, cited hatred as his motive, left confusing phrases on shell casings, and advised deleting the messages; the roommate did not delete them.
