Lauren Boebert Confronted on Trump Calling Her 'Dumb'
Rep. Lauren Boebert said she does not view President Donald Trump’s personal insults and threats as abuse, describing them as part of D.C. political culture. When asked why she and other Republicans tolerate such treatment, she said nothing happens in D.C. without force. The remarks came after Trump became agitated with Boebert for campaigning with Rep. Thomas Massie, a Republican who has broken with Trump on issues including the Epstein files. Trump publicly suggested a primary challenge against Boebert and said he would withdraw his support if a challenger emerged. Boebert also indicated her rift with Trump would not last and that she was not bothered by him calling her “dumb.”
"Clark asked Boebert why she and other Republicans were willing to take so much abuse from him. Boebert responded, “Interesting, I don't see it as abuse. I think it's part of the D.C. nature,” and added, “Nothing happens in D.C. without force.” She framed Trump’s personal insults and pressure tactics as consistent with how politics operates in Washington rather than as exceptional mistreatment."
"Trump was agitated by Boebert after she campaigned with Massie, a fellow Republican lawmaker who has broken with Trump on issues like the Epstein files. Trump wrote on Truth Social, asking whether anyone was interested in running against “Weak Minded Lauren Boebert” in Colorado’s Fourth Congressional District. He added that it would be his honor to withdraw his support for her if a challenger came along."
"Trump’s post also referenced other Republicans he has threatened to back against in primaries, including Rep. Thomas Massie and Sen. John Cornyn, both of whom lost expensive primary battles. Trump characterized Massie as “the Worst Republican' Congressman in the History of our Country” and said that anyone who could be that “dumb” deserves a “good Primary fight.”"
"Boebert sat down with Denver journalist Kyle Clark for Next 9NEWS and was asked directly about Trump’s insults and threats. She said she does not think her rift with Trump will last and that she was not bothered by him calling her “dumb.” She reiterated that she views the behavior as part of D.C. politics rather than as abuse."
