Minneapolis anti-ICE protesters clash with far-right group
"Hundreds of anti-ICE protesters in Minneapolis clashed with and drove off members of a smaller far-right group that had vowed to march in an immigrant neighborhood on Saturday. The latest incident comes amid heightened tensions in the city in Minnesota state following the fatal shooting of Renee Good by a federal immigration agent earlier this month. Demonstrators chanting against US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol gathered near City Hall."
"Right-wing influencer Jake Lang, who organized the pro-ICE rally, later claimed on social media he was stabbed, but Minneapolis police said no report was filed and they received no injury complaints. Lang is one of more than 1,500 people pardoned by US President Donald Trump after their criminal convictions related to the January 6, 2021, riot on the US Capitol."
Several hundred anti-ICE demonstrators in Minneapolis confronted a smaller far-right group and forced them to retreat toward a hotel after pressing them near a municipal building. Protesters chanted against ICE and Border Patrol and threw water balloons and snowballs in frigid conditions reaching -4°F (-20°C) with wind chill. Police kept their distance and no serious injuries were reported. Right-wing influencer Jake Lang organized the pro-ICE rally, later claimed he was stabbed though police reported no injury complaints, and is a Trump pardon recipient who has faced prior charges and drawn criticism for anti-Muslim and antisemitic comments. Pro-ICE rallies have often targeted Minneapolis’s largely Somali Muslim community.
