The suspect arrived in September 2021 from Afghanistan under Operation Allies Welcome and reportedly worked with the CIA-backed Zero Unit before being evacuated to the U.S. He was granted asylum earlier this year. The ambush left Andrew Wolfe, 24, and Sarah Beckstrom, 20, in critical condition after a .357 revolver attack. Mace attributed the attack to the 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan and alleged loose vetting that allowed potential terrorists to enter the United States.
