Nancy Mace forced to cancel speech after only eight people showed up
Briefly

MAGA Republican Nancy Mace, described as a prominent anti-trans voice, held a Moms for Liberty event in Myrtle Beach ahead of the gubernatorial election. Mace had announced over 100 expected attendees, but only eight arrived by start time, excluding reporters and security. Rather than take the planned stage, Mace and her team reportedly entered through a side door and went into a back room; her press team said the speech would not take place. Mace answered media questions and met individually with attendees. Her campaign released polling showing her at 25 percent, and she contacted Donald Trump, who posted the results to Truth Social. Mace previously introduced the "Trans Mice Act."
Last Thursday (21 August), the South Carolina representative and prominent anti-trans voice in government held a Moms for Liberty event at Forward Church, Myrtle Beach, in advance of the gubernatorial election for which she is running. Despite announcing that more than 100 people would be in attendance, as per the Advocate, just eight attendees showed up by the start time, not including reporters and security, according to local outlet My Horry News.
The outlet claimed that rather than taking to the stage for the planned speech, Mace and her team "entered through a side door, walked past the stage where she had been set to speak, and went into a back room". A member of her press team told reporters that the speech would not take place, and Mace instead answered questions from the media before meeting individually with the attendees who were there.
