NYC youth baseball coach confronts ICE: 'I may die here, but they will not take one of these kids'
Briefly

Youman Wilder, founder of Harlem Baseball Hitting Academy, confronted ICE agents at Riverside Park in Manhattan who were questioning minors. This incident reflects increased ICE enforcement in cities like New York since the Trump administration began. Wilder noted that he initially found the agents' presence surprising, considering the park’s location in a liberal area. He recognized the agents from his community, where ICE raids have occurred. During the encounter, he kept calm, guided the boys away from the agents, and expressed concern over the agents' questioning tactics as inappropriate.
Wilder recalled, 'We were just practicing, finishing up a practice and I went to shoot some hoops. And next thing I knew, we just see these guys coming in their uniforms.'
Wilder described the incident, stating, 'I didn't really think of it serious until I got closer and I'm listening to them ask 'What's your name, where you're from, where's your parents?' Wilder expressed, 'And I was like 'Whoa, this is really inappropriate.''
