Pam Bondi 'refuses to say' if Donald Trump told her to redact Jeffrey Epstein files
Pam Bondi declined to answer House oversight questions about whether Donald Trump knew of Jeffrey Epstein’s activities tied to criminal indictments or whether she directed redactions of Justice Department files later made public. In a closed-door interview, she said she delegated document-review oversight to Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, now acting attorney general. Committee Democrats reported a Justice Department lawyer intervened to stop her from answering Trump-related questions. Under her tenure, the Justice Department said it would not release information exposing victims or compromising ongoing investigations. Democrats and some Republicans criticized her for releasing millions of Epstein-related documents and accused her of shielding Trump. Melanie Stansbury said the department released three million of six million Epstein-related documents, calling it a cover-up.
"In a closed-door interview before the House of Representatives oversight committee on Friday, Ms Bondi also said Todd Blanche, who now serves as acting attorney general, had been responsible for the documents' release. "I did not lead every aspect of this effort or conduct that document review myself. I delegated oversight over this process to deputy attorney general Todd Blanche," Ms Bondi said."
