Qatar's PM says he doesn't know why its $400 million Jumbo jet gift is being called 'bribery'
Briefly

Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani defended the proposed gift of a Boeing 747-8 to the US, labeling it a customary gesture between allies worth around $400 million. Amid concerns about legality and accusations of potential bribery, Trump's endorsement of accepting the jet emphasizes his belief it is a sensible decision. The PM referenced other historical gifts to the US, seeking to dispel myths of Qatar trying to influence American politics and asserting the transaction would be conducted transparently and legally.
"I don't know why people consider it as bribery or Qatar trying to buy influence with this administration," he said at the Qatar Economic Forum in Doha on Tuesday.
"Many nations have gifted things to the US," he said, naming the Statue of Liberty as one.
