Republicans Vote Against Amendment Calling for Release of Epstein Files
Briefly

An amendment demanding the release of all files related to Jeffrey Epstein was rejected by Republicans on the House Rules Committee, except for one Republican who sided with Democrats. Rep. Ro Khanna introduced the amendment, urging Congress members to vote on whether to release the files. He emphasized the need for transparency and trust in government. The amendment would have required the U.S. Attorney General to preserve and publish any related records within 30 days. Following the rejection, Rep. Jim McGovern expressed shock at the outcome.
Mr. Speaker, I introduce today an amendment demanding the full release of the Epstein files. This is a question of whose side are you on? Are you on the side of protecting the rich and the powerful who put their thumb on the scales of government to suck out millions of dollars while working class Americans suffer? Or are you on the side of the people?
The attorney general said on her desk was the Epstein files and now she's saying, No, no, no, nothing to see, don't release it. This is a question of trust. We need to release the Epstein files so we can restore government of the people by the people and for people.
