The Federal Communications Commission has recently taken unprecedented actions against diversity and inclusion initiatives, signaling a major shift. FCC Chair Brendan Carr warned businesses that promoting DEI might hinder their chances for merger approvals. Following this warning, major companies like Verizon and T-Mobile rolled back their DEI policies and subsequently received FCC approval for acquisitions. This approach illustrates the administration's willingness to employ unconventional methods to further its anti-DEI agenda.
"Any businesses that are looking for FCC approval, I would encourage them to get busy ending any sort of their invidious forms of DEI discrimination," Carr told Bloomberg in an interview.
"I think what we're seeing from this administration is an attempt to be as creative as possible in thinking widely about what other agencies they can bring into this anti-DEI operation," says David Glasgow.
