President Donald Trump said he and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney maintain a very good relationship despite a dispute over an Ontario television ad. At an APEC dinner the leaders sat across the table, acknowledged each other during a toast, but had little visible conversation. Trump said Carney apologized for the ad, which Trump called fraudulent and which prompted a 10% tariff on Canada. The Reagan Foundation stated the ad used selective audio and video and misrepresented Reagan's 1987 radio address, while PBS reported the ad's overall message reflected Reagan's view that tariffs can lead to trade wars and hurt Americans.
