President Donald Trump threatened to expand military and National Guard deployments to Democratic-led cities, including Baltimore, Chicago and New York, citing crime concerns. Trump referenced deployments already active in Washington and compared potential action to a Los Angeles deployment during a confrontation with Maryland Gov. Wes Moore. Trump criticized Moore's crime record and invoked a pejorative nickname for California Gov. Gavin Newsom while saying federal forces could "quickly clean up the Crime." Gov. Moore invited Trump to Maryland, asserted Trump "seems to enjoy living in this blissful ignorance" about Baltimore's improving crime statistics, and highlighted recent declines in homicides, violent crime and property crime.
"send in the 'troops.'"
"Wes Moore's record on Crime is a very bad one, unless he fudges his figures on crime like many of the other 'Blue States' are doing,"
"But if Wes Moore needs help, like Gavin Newscum did in L.A., I will send in the 'troops,' which is being done in nearby DC, and quickly clean up the Crime."
"because he seems to enjoy living in this blissful ignorance"
