President Donald Trump ordered air strikes in Caracas that led to the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. The strikes drew criticism for not seeking congressional authorization, the difficulties of forcing regime change, and for Trump’s December pardon of Juan Orlando Hernandez, a former Honduran president convicted of drug trafficking. Critics also cited Maduro's repression and his seizure of a third term in July 2024 despite opposition results. Trump shared numerous conspiracy-laden posts and then issued an all-caps warning advising against Tylenol use for pregnant women and young children and recommending separated vaccine shots.
