Trump is trying to subvert California's Nov. 4 election results, state attorney general says
"he is "100%" concerned about false accusations of wrongdoing at the polling places."
"it would be "naive" to assume Trump would accept the results of the Nov. 4 election given his history of lying about election outcomes, including his loss to President Biden in 2020."
""All indications, all arrows, show that this is a tee-up for something more dangerous in the 2026 midterms and maybe beyond," Bonta said."
California Attorney General Rob Bonta warned that the Trump administration may use false reports of voting irregularities to challenge Nov. 4 Proposition 50 election results. Bonta said he is "100%" concerned about false accusations of wrongdoing at polling places and called it "naive" to assume Trump would accept the results given his history of disputing election outcomes. Bonta cautioned that the deployment of federal election monitors could preview tactics heading into the 2026 midterms. The U.S. Department of Justice will send monitors to Fresno, Kern, Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties. Gov. Gavin Newsom characterized the monitoring effort as an "intimidation tactic."
