"Last fall, a Miami-Dade circuit judge initially blocked the college from giving away its deed to the land away until a legal challenge over whether the school's trustees followed Florida public transparency laws played out in court. The college's trustees initially voted to give the land to the state board - which planned to give it to Trump's library foundation - during a September meeting that lasted less than five minutes and included no discussion or public notification of the state's plans for the land."

Trump Presidential Library Foundation became the legal owner of a 2.6-acre parcel adjacent to Miami's Freedom Tower after Miami Dade College transferred the deed to the state's Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund, which conveyed it to the foundation. Miami Dade College President Madeline Pumariega signed the deed to the state board for $10 in January and the state board conveyed the land to the foundation for $10 with a restriction requiring construction of a presidential library, museum, or center within five years. The transfer followed a court block and a subsequent publicly noticed trustee vote addressing transparency concerns.
