He declined to confirm whether Kevin Hassett is the selection, smiling that he would not reveal the name. Kevin Hassett downplayed reports that he is the front-runner and told CBS and Fox News that markets responded positively as the president neared a decision. Hassett said markets celebrated, interest rates fell, and the Treasury had one of its best auctions. Hassett added that the market expects a new Fed leader and that he would be happy to serve if nominated.
