The Trump administration gifted Qatar an Air Force base on Idaho soil, prompting allegations of quid pro quo and corruption. Qatar had earlier given Donald Trump a Boeing 747 and months later the Trump Organization purchased a Qatari golf course. Far-right influencer Laura Loomer condemned the base transfer, accused Qatar of funding Islamic terrorism, and threatened not to vote in 2026 if Republicans continue to "Islamify" the country. Deutsche Welle reports that Qatar has provided billions in financial support to Hamas. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth described the arrangement as an example of partnership and assured Qatar's defense minister of American support.
