William Beach, former BLS Commissioner, stated that President Trump's job numbers were incorrect. Trump held a press conference to present revised job statistics following a disappointing report. Economist Stephen Moore claimed the BLS overestimated job creation by 1.5 million during Biden's administration. He implied statistical revisions pre-election were suspicious. Beach criticized the accuracy of the charts presented, particularly regarding the months used for revisions. Moore defended his methods, asserting he compared initial job reports with final corrected figures instead of just using revised data.
He should have known better than to do that. The first bar-labeled as an August jobs revision-used a preliminary estimate that was later revised downward in February.
Moore countered that Beach misunderstood his method. He said the team was comparing the initial 'headline' jobs numbers released each month to the final revised and benchmarked numbers.
