The government apologized in court and said the removal was a mistake by an ICE deportation officer who believed the order no longer applied after she left Massachusetts. The government also argued the court lacks jurisdiction because the legal action was filed after she reached Texas. Lopez Belloza is not detained and is staying with relatives while studying remotely.
