"All I have ever wanted is to live with dignity in the country I have called home since I was a baby, Annie Ramos said in a statement following her release."
"I want to finish my degree, continue my education, and serve my community just as my husband serves our country with honor, she said."
"I am deeply grateful to my husband, Matthew, who never stopped fighting for me, and to our families and community who surrounded us with love, prayers, and support."
Annie Ramos, a Honduran immigrant, was released from ICE custody after being detained at her husband's military base. She arrived in the US as a toddler and had a removal order issued in 2005. Ramos, 22, was detained shortly after marrying US Army staff sergeant Matthew Blank. She had applied for DACA protection in 2020, but her application was not processed. Ramos expressed her desire to obtain legal status, finish her education, and serve her community, thanking her husband and supporters for their help.
