The Trump administration announced a temporary halt of more than $250 million in Medicaid reimbursements to Minnesota as part of an anti-fraud initiative. Vice President JD Vance stated the federal payments would remain suspended until the state government addresses fraud perpetrated against American taxpayers. Mehmet Oz, administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid, characterized this as the first time the government took such action against a state and indicated Minnesota would not be the last. Medicaid serves approximately 80 million low-income Americans, including children, pregnant women, seniors, and people with disabilities.
