Planned negotiations between Iran and the US regarding Tehran's nuclear program have been postponed. Oman's Foreign Minister announced the delay, stressing logistical reasons. The Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed their commitment to a fair agreement despite the postponement. While there was no confirmation of US participation in the upcoming talks, expectations remain for future discussions. These negotiations aim to limit Iran's nuclear capabilities in exchange for easing economic sanctions. Tensions persist as President Trump threatens military action if a deal is not achieved, following the US withdrawal from the previous 2015 nuclear deal in 2018.
"For logistical reasons we are rescheduling the US Iran meeting provisionally planned for Saturday May 3rd," he wrote. "New dates will be announced when mutually agreed."
Iran remain committed to reaching "a fair and lasting agreement," amid the postponed talks over the nuclear program.
The negotiations seek to limit Iran's nuclear programme in exchange for lifting some US economic sanctions imposed on the country.
The landmark 2015 nuclear deal did limit Tehran's nuclear activities, but Trump unilaterally withdrew from it in 2018, escalating tensions.
