At Google I/O 2025, the company introduced Stitch, an innovative tool powered by Gemini designed to transform design ideas into UI layouts and code swiftly. As a seasoned product designer, I tested Stitch with a prompt for a mobile app focused on mindfulness habits. The generated design showcased vibrant, soft aesthetics with rainbow glows and soft gradients. However, while the tool excelled in speed, it also revealed limitations in accurately reflecting my vision, highlighting the necessity of human input for refining functionalities and user experience.
The design tool quickly generated a functional UI proposal that was visually appealing and aligned with my request for soft colors and calming elements.
While Stitch produced a design quickly, I found areas where the tool’s interpretations of my prompt diverged from my vision, especially in the layout.
One of the most promising aspects of Stitch is its ability to translate high-level concepts into usable front-end code, expediting the design process.
Despite its strengths, the design still requires human refinement to ensure usability and adherence to best UX practices.
