West Berkeley fire torches 2 apartment buildings, displaces 10 families

"A 911 caller first reported the fire, on the 2300 block of Ninth Street, shortly before 3 a.m. Firefighters had the fire under control at 3:36 a.m., about 45 minutes after the first call."

"The American Red Cross went to the scene to help with the 10 families who had been displaced. There was one resident assessed for possible medical complaint but was not transported."

A two-alarm fire occurred early Tuesday morning on the 2300 block of Ninth Street, affecting two apartment buildings.
