Bluepeak invests $150M more in ongoing South Dakota project
"In addition to the fiber deployment, Bluepeak says it has expanded its multistate backbone network, increased capacity to major Internet peering locations, upgraded components of its regional and metro fiber networks, and launched a commercial services network. The second round of investments means the project will reach more than 175,000 residents and businesses across the state, the press release says."
"In addition to South Dakota, Bluepeak is active in Oklahoma, Minnesota, Wyoming, North Dakota, and Texas. "We're proud of the investments we've made to connect communities across South Dakota," said Bluepeak CEO Rich Fish in a press release. "This next phase represents our continued commitment to delivering world-class broadband service and ensuring our customers have the connectivity they need to thrive in today's digital world." One of the reasons the company has been expanded is an investment made by Areas Management Infrastructure Opportunities and Alternative Credit Strategies that was announced in March 2024."
Bluepeak is adding a $150 million investment to an ongoing fiber project in South Dakota. To date, Bluepeak has invested more than $95 million to reach 55,000 residents and businesses in Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Vermillion and nearby communities. Bluepeak expanded its multistate backbone, increased capacity to major Internet peering locations, upgraded regional and metro fiber components, and launched a commercial services network. The additional investment will extend project reach to over 175,000 residents and businesses statewide. Bluepeak also serves Oklahoma, Minnesota, Wyoming, North Dakota and Texas. An investment from Areas Management Infrastructure Opportunities and Alternative Credit Strategies was announced in March 2024 to support the Great Plains deployment. Bluepeak invested $19.5 million to expand fiber in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and provided free speed upgrades to more than 25,000 customers with minimum 300 Mbps.
