Universal's Super Nintendo World opened in Hollywood in 2023 to praise for its immersive design but faced backlash over size restrictions on its main ride, Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge. Many found the ride's waist limit of 40 inches problematic, especially as it excludes the average male size. Critics have noted Universal's history of creating attractions that are not as accommodating to plus-size visitors. Following criticism, Universal has begun inviting plus-size influencers for previews at its upcoming Epic Universe in Orlando, signaling a potential shift towards greater inclusivity.
When Universal opened its much-lauded Super Nintendo World in Hollywood in early 2023, it was amid a swarm of bad press. People liked the world, which they thought was enchanting and immersive, but they hated the fact that the marquee attraction, Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge, was so size-restrictive.
Universal has a history now of releasing new rides where they don't accommodate big people yet they will take full admission price from us. Seems unethical.
