Illfonic and Gun Media announced Halloween: The Game, set for a 2026 release on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. The game adapts material from the original 1978 Halloween and centers on Haddonfield, Illinois locations recreated from the film. Players can play as residents trying to survive, warn others, and reach authorities, or as Michael Myers, The Shape. The game includes a single-player story mode, offline bots mode, and online asymmetrical PvP across multiple maps. A previously teased Unreal Engine 5 Halloween project from Boss Team Games may or may not be the same production, suggesting a shift in involved studios. Illfonic's recent licensed multiplayer credits include Killer Klowns from Outer Space and Predator: Hunting Grounds.
Sometime in 2026, it will be the "night he came home," as Illfonic and Gun Media have revealed Halloween: The Game, a new single-player and multiplayer take on John Carpenter's iconic 1978 slasher. The duo previously worked together on Friday The 13th: The Game, a beloved multiplayer spin on another masked slasher franchise. Halloween debuted during the recent Future Games Show, coinciding with Gamescom 2025.
In Halloween: The Game, players will take on the roles of either residents of Haddonfield, Illinois or The Shape himself, Michael Myers. As residents, players will need to survive, stick to the shadows, warn other residents, and hopefully reach the authorities before Michael gashes them up. The game will offer a single-player story mode, offline bots mode, and online asymmetrical PvP. It will also include multiple maps and "authentic locations" pulled from the classic film.
