How to edit videos on a Mac: The basics in 6 easy steps
Briefly

Video editing on Macs and PCs requires high-performance hardware, such as ample RAM, a powerful CPU, and GPU. Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve are major software options for both platforms. However, Macs have a reputation for their effortless integration and user-friendly interface. iMovie is a built-in, basic video editing application for Mac users. Although not recently updated and relatively simplistic, it remains free and effective, particularly for those starting with video editing. Users can create projects using various templates in iMovie, making the process more accessible and enjoyable.
iMovie is a simplified video editor that comes in two modes: 'Movie' and 'Trailer'. The latter is the simplest, as it does most of the job for you.
If this is the first time you've launched iMovie, all you'll see on the interface is a giant '+' thumbnail. Click on it and select 'Trailer'.
You're offered 25 templates in iMovie, which you can preview by clicking on their thumbnails. Select the one that best suits the mood you're after.
iMovie hasn't been updated in years, but it's free, usually comes bundled with your Mac, and still packs a punch despite its age.
