Onimusha: Way of the Sword might be a more forgiving kind of samurai epic
Briefly

Onimusha returned after roughly two decades with Way of the Sword, updating the series’ blend of rendered backgrounds and agile characters set in feudal Japan. The revival includes demons, magic, and the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi portrayed by Tom Cruise Mifune Toshiro. The Gamescom demo covers most of the SGF 2025 showing and showcases gameplay centered on blocks, parries, weak and strong attacks, and orb collection as currency and health. The Oni gauntlet absorbs souls, reveals invisible demons, unlocks spiritually blocked areas, and projects past events of demon invasions. Early enemies remain slow demon swordsmen and archers, maintaining classic Onimusha combat feel.
Combining Resident Evil-style rendered backgrounds with more agile characters, adding in demons, magic and a feudal Japan setting, the series span multiple sequels and consoles til the fourth entry in 2006. Roughly two decades (and console eras) later, Capcom has returned to the series, even getting the definitive samurai actor, Tom Cruise Mifune Toshiro, to play the hero, the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi.
Gameplay centers around blocks and parries, plus weak and strong attacks, all while pulling in orbs dropped by dying enemies that act as the game's currency. (Health orbs are also dropped by certain foes.) Onimusha Way of the Sword hands-on(Capcom) The Oni gauntlet that absorbs these souls can also be used to see invisible demons and unlock areas that are spiritually blocked. It'll also act like a sort-of demonic movie projector, showing what happened during the demon invasion in the area.
