PS5 Prices Have Increased In Some Regions, But Not The US
Briefly

Sony has raised the prices of its PS5 console in select international markets, notably in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, citing economic factors like inflation and fluctuating exchange rates. Specifically, the PS5 Digital Edition sees a price increase of €50 in Europe and AUD $70 in Australia. However, there are also decreases for the PS5 disc drive attachment in these regions. Notably, prices in the US remain stable, presenting a contrast to global trends. This marks a continuation of Sony's price adjustments, echoing a previous increase in Japan in August 2024.
"With a backdrop of a challenging economic environment, including high inflation and fluctuating exchange rates, SIE has made the tough decision to raise the recommended retail price of the PlayStation 5 console in select markets in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Australia and New Zealand," Sony said in a statement.
"The price of the PS5 won't just increase due to recent tariffs, but also that there is a compounding impact between inflation, exchange rates, and macroeconomic trends that affect pricing," said analyst Daniel Ahmad.
