The changes were part of the 'Los Sueños Stories' update released on July 15 by Void Interactive and aimed to support crossplay, avoiding bugs from maintaining different assets. The update faced backlash from fans, who accused the developers of unnecessary censoring, leading to review bombing on Steam. A modder responded by releasing a mod that mostly restored the original content within an hour of the update going live.
On July 15, developer Void Interactive released the free "Los Sueños Stories" update for Ready or Not. The update controversially altered in-game content, including covering up nude suspects and toning down dismemberment.
Void Interactive stated that the changes were necessary for compliance with stricter content rules on Xbox and PlayStation and aimed to avoid extra bugs that could arise from different versions.
Following the update, fans expressed their outrage by review bombing Ready or Not on Steam. Despite the backlash, Void Interactive proceeded with the content changes in the update.
Less than an hour after the update's release, a modder named eman734 uploaded a mod called "Uncensored Or Not" to restore the original content, including in-game nudity and gore.
