Two Of The Best RPGs Ever Made, 'Elden Ring' And 'Morrowind,' Combine In An Ambitious Upcoming Mod
Briefly

Modders are recreating Morrowind in different engines, including a project called Elden Scrolls that ports the entire Vvardenfell region into Elden Ring's engine. The map is traversable end-to-end with complete building interiors, implemented lighting, custom weather, and skies that reflect area-specific atmospheres from Red Mountain to Seyda Neen. Current placeholders include a single friendly NPC model and goats for enemies, and individual NPC dialogue, quests, and core gameplay systems remain unimplemented. The work is early-stage and nonfunctional as a playable game, requiring assignment of dialogues, quest logic, replacement of placeholder models, and implementation of combat and quest mechanics.
Tentatively called Elden Scrolls, the new mod already looks remarkably interesting despite not being functional yet. In two YouTube videos, InfernoPlus provides a short summary of the state of the project and a longer dive into how it all works and what needs to be done to turn it into a playable game. The short version is that, at least visually, the entire region of Vvardenfell, where takes place, has already been ported into Elden Ring 's engine.
You can run across the entire map from end to end, including walking into complete building interiors. Lighting has even been implemented across the map, along with bespoke weather and skies depending on where in the world you are. So far, it looks fantastic, already capturing the vibe of areas from the ashy Red Mountain to the swampy settlement of Seyda Neen.
