Hendrix Lapierre credits Tom Wilson's one-year-old son Teddy for getting him out of his slump: 'He's been doing a couple pregame pump-up speeches for me'

Hendrix Lapierre ended a 90-game scoring drought on January 23 against the Flames and has since increased his offensive output, recording three points in five games. He ignited Washington's comeback against Carolina by scoring 7:52 into the second period after redirecting Sonny Milano's shot, chasing a rebound past Frederik Andersen and converting on his third attempt. Lapierre's line began the game with a minus-two rating after being on ice for two Hurricanes goals. Capitals coach Spencer Carbery credited the fourth line with shifting momentum through an O-zone start, a big goal and drawing two penalties. Lapierre welcomed the timely score.
