The Hershey Bears have signed goaltender Antoine Keller, a Washington Capitals prospect, to a one-year AHL contract for the 2025-26 season. Keller, who was drafted in the seventh round of the 2023 NHL Draft, played for Lausanne HC in Switzerland, mainly as a backup. With a .894 save percentage and solid performances at the World Championship for France, Keller brings valuable international experience and training from Cristobal Huet, further enhancing the Bears' goalie roster for the upcoming season. He’s the first player out of France drafted by the Caps.
Keller, the first player drafted out of France by the Capitals, showcased his talents at the recent World Championship, earning his nation's top player designation.
During his season with Lausanne HC, Keller learned under former Capitals goalie Cristobal Huet, enriching his development in the professional league.
The Hershey Bears now have three goalies signed, including Keller, amid uncertainty regarding long-time netminder Hunter Shepard's free agency status.
