Justin Sourdif will not play against Montreal Canadiens due to upper-body injury
"Sourdif was originally injured on Sunday during the Capitals' game against the Nashville Predators. Shortly into the second period, the rookie centerman was struck in the face as Predators forward Fedor Svechkov tried to clear the puck out of the defensive zone. Sourdif immediately grabbed his face and made his way off the ice to the locker room. The 23-year-old forward did not return to the game after just 6:16 of ice time. Sourdif's face was already sore coming into the game after he was bloodied by a collision in practice with Connor McMichael last week."
"With Sourdif out, Connor McMichael will play center tonight in his absence. Sourdif has been one of the Capitals' top players over the last few weeks, finding great chemistry with Ryan Leonard and Connor McMichael on the second line. He's recorded 10 points (6g, 4a) in his last seven games, including scoring his first career professional hat trick on January 5 against the Anaheim Ducks."
"After the skate, Carbery also announced that Tom Wilson will also miss his fifth straight game due to a lower-body injury while Jakob Chychrun will be a game-time decision. Bogdan Trineyev's locker stall at MedStar Capitals Iceplex had his gear in it, but he practiced in Hershey and was not called up."
