As the NHL continues to shift coaching personnel, the number of available head coaching positions has diminished. Following the hiring of Jeff Blashill by the Chicago Blackhawks, only three teams remain without a head coach: the Seattle Kraken, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Boston Bruins. Mitch Love, an assistant for the Washington Capitals and a significant candidate, has garnered attention and interviewed with multiple teams, including the Penguins and Kraken. The Kraken are exploring their options keenly as they seek to appoint a new leader after a disappointing season.
Seattle continues to work through its process in hiring a head coach. Toronto has granted the Kraken permission to speak with Lane Lambert. Mitch Love and David Quinn believed to be among those in the mix as well.
Love already has ties to the Pacific Northwest through his six years as an assistant coach with the WHL's Everett Silvertips. The 40-year-old former AHL enforcer is also a British Columbia native who played the final two seasons of his junior career in Everett, Washington.
