The Capitals' winning streak meets its demise in Philadelphia
"PHILADELPHIA - Jamie Drysdale scored on the power play in the third period to snap a 20-game run without a goal, Dan Vladar made 26 saves, and the Philadelphia Flyers ended the Washington Capitals' three-game winning streak by prevailing, 4-2, on Tuesday night at Xfinity Mobile Arena. Drysdale one-timed a Trevor Zegras pass past Washington goalie Clay Stevenson to put the Flyers ahead 3-2 with 5:23 remaining. An empty-net goal by Rasmus Ristolainen ensured Philadelphia (25-20-10) would snap its four-game losing streak."
"Vladar was reliable in goal for Philadelphia - particularly in the first period, when he stopped all 11 shots Washington fired at him during a period spent mostly in the Flyers' end. He stopped two one-timers by Alex Ovechkin from the high slot in the third to keep the Flyers in front. Anthony Beauvillier had a goal in the third period and assisted on Aliaksei Protas's second-period shorthanded goal for Washington (28-23-7). Playing in his second game in as many nights, Stevenson made 18 saves."
"Owen Tippett gave the Flyers a first-period lead when he took a cross-ice pass from defenseman Travis Sanheim and made a deft forehand-to-backhand move to slide it past Stevenson. Carl Grundstrom, a healthy scratch in the previous two games, returned to the lineup and snapped a 13-game scoring drought when his shot caromed off the skate of Capitals defenseman Jakob Chychrun to give the Flyers a two-goal lead in the second period."
Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Washington Capitals 4-2, with Jamie Drysdale scoring a third-period power-play goal to break a 20-game goal drought. Dan Vladar made 26 saves, stopping all 11 shots in the first period and denying two Alex Ovechkin one-timers in the third. Rasmus Ristolainen added an empty-net goal to seal the win and snap a four-game losing streak for Philadelphia (25-20-10). Aliaksei Protas scored a second-period shorthanded goal and Anthony Beauvillier added a third-period goal and an assist for Washington (28-23-7), whose Clay Stevenson made 18 saves in his second game in as many nights. Owen Tippett and Carl Grundstrom provided earlier goals for the Flyers.
