Linda Sinrod, who began ice skating at 35, transitioned to ice hockey after meeting a women's team founder. With no prior hockey experience, she embraced the sport and became a competitive player. After almost five decades on the ice, she recently retired at 84, setting a Guinness World Record for the oldest woman to play competitive hockey. Her story reflects resilience, passion, and the joy of staying active in later life, prompting curiosity about her fitness and experiences over the years.
I started trying to do one of the jumps that I had done. That's when Marylin Schnibbe came up to me and asked if I would play ice hockey.
As soon as I started playing I loved it. I borrowed some equipment, including a hockey stick, which I had never used before.
Last month, Sinrod hung up her skates for the last time, at age 84. She holds the Guinness World Record as the oldest woman to play ice hockey.
Now, if you're anything like us, you probably have lots of questions. How does an 84-year-old stay in shape to play competitive ice hockey?
