
DHS chief Markwayne Mullin said the agency is drawing up plans to stop Customs and Border Protection processing of inbound international travelers at major airports in sanctuary cities. The threat is framed as leverage to pressure sanctuary cities to cooperate with ICE in rounding up undocumented people. The proposal followed earlier remarks in early April that were widely viewed as unlikely to be carried out. Mullin reiterated the stance after protests outside an ICE facility in Newark, New Jersey, and made the comments on Fox News.
