Checking in on 5 top prospects in the Nationals organization
Briefly

The baseball season is entering the final stretch and the Nationals' future depends on prospect development. Eli Willits, a 17-year-old first overall pick, received a promotion to Single-A Fredericksburg and recorded a 3-for-4 debut. Jarlin Susana reached A+ and AA, posting 14.86 K/9 and a 3.26 ERA across 12 starts despite a 0-3 record and limited innings; his three-pitch mix includes a near-100 mph fastball. Luke Dickerson, a 20-year-old second-round pick with a $3.8 million bonus, carries a .639 OPS and projects for 2028. Alex Clemmey signed for $2.3 million with a fastball-slider combination.
Jarlin Susana is lighting up the minor leagues as he has surged towards the front of the Nationals Top Prospects list. He has played A+ and AA ball this year. In 12 total starts, Susana has 14.86 K/9 with a 3.26 ERA. Unfortunately, Susana has a record of 0-3 with just 4.1 innings pitched per game. Regardless, his stuff has been nasty.
Of course the top prospect will have a while to go. He is just a 17 year old prospect that was drafted at first overall, but he does not project to see the diamond for at least three years, maybe longer. Luckily for Willits, he has already just gained his first minor league promotion to Single-A Fredericksburg. In his debut, Willits went for 3-4 last night. Off to a good start.
